About our Learning Management System(LMS) and Learning Content Management System(LCMS)

Our custom built LMS uses a variety of technologies which include ASP,ASP.NET,VB.NET,SQL,XML and ACCESS. It is accessible to our customers and employees. The systems handles the scheduling, processing, grading and Training. The LMS can be setup for on demand training or pre-scheduled training. Only administrators of the LMS need a username and password (this username and password can be stored on the student's computer as a cookie). Students login using their unique reference number.

Our LCMS also uses a variety of technologies. The LCMS uses the file system for version control and the logical grouping of courseware/learning objects/modules.

  • Graphics: We use Adobe Photoshop 7 and Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004
  • Sound/WAV/MP3 developement: Sorenson Squeeze and Sony Sound Forge
  • Movie Developement: A variety of video programs for editing, Flash Video for delivery and Sorenson Squeeze for compression
  • Course Navigation: Flash MX 2004 and Authorware 7.0
    • FLASH MX 2004: The architecture we have built interfaces with external files placed in specific directories. One type of file the architecture can interface with is a flash movies/swf files. Other file types include jpg images and audio files.
The flash shell can also read text from an xml file and display the Information onto the screen. Much like a powerpoint slide show.
For any given slide (when using the xml exclusively) a specific screen would have text, picture file and audio. Or just a simple swf file.
      • Example of using xml exclusively for presentation

      • Example of using a flash swf exclusively for presentation

    • Authorware 7.0: We use the native flow lines and diagrams within Authorware to dictate how an individual can move through the course.
  • Animation: Flash MX 2004
  • Course Delivery: Internet Explorer Web Browser and Computer Executable (EXE) files
  • Records/Bookmarks: ASP.NET Pages accept HTTP Posts from the Courseware (When applicable using the AICC standard)
  • Course Publishing: Flash MX 2004 and Authorware 7.0
    • Note1: Either the Macromedia Flash Player or Macromedia Authroware Player must be installed on the Client for the courseware to run
    • Note2: We recommend Internet Explorer 6.0 and above for the extensive Caching(after the course runs once, the media is stored on the local computer) capabilities it provides
    • Note3: We do not publish our courseware to simple html pages for deployment. HTML/browser only provides the framework in which we can launch a flash movie or authoware course from. Html does not provide a mechanism to provide bandwidth or streaming consistency at the client level. When the connection from your browser to the server is not monitored the MP3 files, picture loading and moview playing can appear to be choppy on the clients computer.
