Can You Hear Me Now? |
 |
The presence of an ear plug in a worker's ear implies safety but says little of the protection being achieved. Noise Reduction Rating labels of hearing protectors are not reliable. They are only estimates. Proper training and adequate fit testing are the most effective methods to achieve optimum hearing protection. If you are responsible for making sure your company is in compliance with OSHA’s hearing conservation requirements, don’t miss this session. You will learn about various fit testing methods, why there are so many hearing protection devices and how to determine if they work during a ½-day, AIHA-sponsored “Fit Testing for Hearing Protectors” class.
This class, led by Audiologist Johnny Sanders with Health Testing Solutions,
will be held on October 7th at the Holiday Inn Select in Baton Rouge, from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., in conjunction with the Gulf Coast Safety + Security Conference & Expo. Cost to attend this class is $80.
Also on October 7th is a 2-part post-conference session covering “Top 10 Serious OSHA Violations” and “Proper PSM Auditing.” This class will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The cost is $129 inclusive of lunch. CEUs will be awarded for both classes.
To learn more about either of these sessions or the conference visit
www.thesafetyexpo.com. There you can register online for these sessions, the full conference or both days of activities.
