According to the American
Red Cross, more than 200,000 Americans die of
sudden cardiac arrrest every year and up to 50,000
of those deaths could have been prevented if an
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was
available for immediate use. You may have noticed
these devices in airports, health clubs and other
public places and since we see such a large volume
of your employees in our offices, we have decided
to install them at the Safety Council as well.

An AED is a portable electronic device that automatically analyzes the hearts rhythm for any abnormalities and, if necessary, an audible voice directs the
user to deliver an electrical shock to the victim with just a push of a button. AED training is now incorporated into all of our CPR classes that are held
every Friday at the Baton Rouge location. While the AED is easy to use, only qualified individuals should operate the device.
The majority of Safety Council employees are trained in the event you or one of your workers ever suffers a cardiac emergency while on our premises. |
| Ease of use and increased affordability has led to the recent popularity of these devices. If your company is interested in CPR/AED training for your employees contact Nancy Simpson at (225) 766-0955 ext. 3292 or nsimpson@safetylca.org. |
