New Resource: A Solution to Your Workforce Shortage

What if you could decrease your turnover rate, fill your job openings with qualified individuals, reduce your downtime, improve your productivity and make more money for your company?  A new resource available through your Safety Council, ACT™ WorkKeys®, can help you achieve these goals. Eight key employability skills have been identified through the WorkKeys system:
  • applied math
  • listening
  • writing
  • teamwork
  • applied technology
  • locating information
  • observation and
  • business writing
  • For those that don't score at the required level, training is offered through the loyees to develop your workforce.

Washington-based Steelscape Inc. experience a 21% decrease in manufacturing expenses, a 95% decrease in overtime and a reduction in turnover rate from 33% to under 4% in one year, when they implemented WorkKeys as a pre-employment screen tool.  HR Manager, Kim Cheatly says, “Completion of WorkKeys allows us to select the best of the best. The employees we select using WorkKeys are superstars, and we’re very satisfied with their performance and interpersonal skills.” The Safety Council invites you to learn more about this new resource during an upcoming Lunch and Learn in August.

In addition to offering the ACT WorkKeys at the Safety Council, we are offering certification testing through ACT. What does this mean for your company? If you have employees with certifications that need to be renewed periodically, you may be able to schedule your testing through the Safety Council. Testing for certifications associated with industries such as mechanical, plumbing, pipe fitting, HVAC, process technology and many others are available through the Safety Council. A complete list of certification tests offered can be viewed by visiting www.act.org/actcenters/overview/testing.html. If you have any questions about these new services, contact Arbrie King at (225) 766-0955 ext. 198 or aking@safetylca.org.
