Setting Industry Standards with and for Utility Contractors |

PowerSafe has been setting the standard for utility transmission and distribution contractors for several years but now has launched a new safety training course for contractors working in generating facilities.
David Bowman of Entergy Fossils says “PowerSafe Generation will completely change the way utilities are currently tasked with providing contractor safety orientation. PowerSafe Generation was developed in conjunction with industry representatives from Cleco, NRG, Entergy, Southern Companies, and utility contractors. The course is web-delivered or can be transmitted to an approved training location for proctoring. Students can access training via
www.powersafetraining.org, once their company has established login rights. |

All records are maintained on the secure website and owners and contractors can verify records 24/7. The course topics include:

- Housekeeping
- Vehicle Safety
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Hearing Conservation
- Hazard Communication
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- Heat Stress
- Job Safety Anaylysis/Job Hazard Analysis
- Basic Electrical Work Practices
- Hand and Power Tools
- Elevated Work Platforms
- Confined Space Entry
These topics provide OSHA compliant training in areas that are achievable and partial compliance in areas that require employer specific training requirements such as hazard communications.
