Is Your Company in Compliance with NFPA 70E?

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E standard for electrical safety in the workplace has been generating a lot of buzz within general industry. Many companies are asking: Who is affected by this standard? Must we comply? Does OSHA have the authority to enforce 70E’s requirements?

Clear up the confusion during a one hour online seminar at 1:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, February 12th. Jim Norred from Resource Consulting will provide you with an overview of the measures your company needs to take to protect your workers and avoid incidents that could trigger an OSHA investigation and possible citation. If your company has adopted a wait and see approach to this standard, you’re probably in a non-compliance status. During the session, the key requirements of 70E will be discussed. This course will educate you on the requirements of NFPA 70E as it assists you in substantiating the need to implement a 70E compliant safety program, now, to your company executives. Other topics to be covered include:

  • The hazard assessment requirement and various methods of complying
  • Employee training requirements
  • Determining protective equipment and apparel needs
  • Understanding flame resistant clothing and how it is rated & certified
  • Videos on arc flash testing of clothing
  • Safety’s responsibilities – gaining employee acceptance
  • Permits, job briefings, and Lock Out/Tag Out
  • Multi-employer relationships and responsibilities
  • Equipment warning labeling requirement
  • Resources to aid in implementing a 70E compliant program
This training is not designed or intended to meet the employee training requirements imposed by article 110.6 of NFPA 70E.
