Steel Exploring Safety

| Representatives from
Nucor Steel Marion Inc. have been checking out the
Safety Council. During a recent visit to the
capital city, Nucor’s Safety Coordinator Tom
Reeves and a guest stopped in to tour the Safety Council, its
satellite offices in Gonzales and Addis and our
secure data center. |
The visit took place on the heels
of their anticipated decision to locate a new
steel mill in St. James parish.
The North
Carolina steel maker is expected to decide
sometime early next year if they will build their
$2 billion dollar plant in either St. James
Parish, on the same piece of land passed on by
ThyssenKrupp last year or in Brazil.
The new plant would create 2,000 construction
jobs and 500 permanent jobs, with an average
salary of $75,000. |
